M. Kyle Matsuba PhD

Instructor
Kwantlen Polytechnic University

Dr. Matsuba’s work explores the links between environmental attitudes, beliefs and behaviors, and other factors that influence them, including personality and developmental factors. More recently, he has been exploring the importance of the “natural world” on human wellbeing, taking a mindfulness and Indigenous lens to this work.

Dr. Matsuba’s previous research has focused on the moral personality and identity of individuals engaged in extraordinary endeavors. His recent work has considered personality factors associated with volunteering and the lives of environmental activists.

Dr. Matsuba has also studied the lives of at-risk children, and the changes in well-being associated with participating in intervention programs. His past work studied the social contexts of youth living in urban poverty and the behavioural consequences. He is currently working with The Hawn Foundation to help institute mindfulness practices with children living in post-conflict northern Uganda.
