Angela Mertig is currently a Professor of Sociology in the Department of Sociology and Anthropology at Middle Tennessee State University in Murfreesboro, TN. She specializes in sociological research methodology and statistics, environmental sociology, social movements, especially the environmental movement, and in the study of public opinion and attitudes regarding the natural environment and animals. Dr. Mertig has conducted numerous surveys of public opinion regarding animals, particularly wildlife, land use and natural resource management. Dr. Mertig received her Ph.D. in sociology from Washington State University (WSU) in 1995; her M.A. in sociology from WSU in 1990; and her B.A. in sociology/anthropology and history from Ripon College (Ripon, WI) in 1987.
