Dr. Christina Wesolek currently serves as an Assistant Professor of Captive Wildlife Care in the Hybrid Learning Program at Unity College. She holds a Bachelor of Science in Psychology with a minor in Biology from the College of Mount Saint Vincent, a Master of Arts degree in Psychology (Behavioral Science & Bioacoustics) from the University of Toledo, a Master of Science degree in Interdisciplinary Environmental Studies and a doctorate in Environmental Studies from Antioch University New England. Christina’s research spans the social sciences, animal behavior, comparative hearing and communication, and endangered species conservation. Her current research focuses on sea turtle conservation, environmental identity, and community engagement. Her work has included communities and groups in the United States, Costa Rica, Greece, and Africa.
Christina holds an Honorary Research Fellow position at the Center of Excellence in Biodiversity and Natural Resources Management (CoEB), University of Rwanda. She is also a Research Associate for the Conservation Co-design Project in the Conservation Psychology Strategy & Integration program at Antioch University New England – working with AZA accredited zoos and local communities, and with World Wildlife Fund and the Northern Cheyenne Nation. In addition, Christina mentors graduate students at Antioch University New England and has been involved with the Mandela Washington Fellowship for Young African Leaders Initiative (YALI) since 2018.
